Love the jib between The Captain and Nic! Great research and interesting stories. One of the best true crime podcasts around!
Great true crime podcast if you like details and not a lot of banter in-between. Each case is usually so detailed it ends up being 2 episodes long so if you like knowing every aspect possible this is a good one. They do share their theories and thoughts on the evidence or certain scenarios but tend to keep it at a minimum so it doesn't get boring. One of my favorite things about the show is the Captain's music he does for each episode. My only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is occasionally the 2 will disagree/debate with each other about things, interrupting/talking over each other and let it carry on too long at times.
True Crime Garage is one I have listened to for over a year now. I most enjoy the lesser-known cases they cover, as they sometimes get details wrong with the more popular cases. Perhaps I know too much about the more popular ones and am more critical, I don't know. They do have chemistry together, but sometimes their mispronunciation of words is irritating. All in all, this is worth a listen, but it doesn't make my top 5 favorites list.
Absolutely one of my favourites due to the integrity and authenticity of the two creators. A great duo who discuss relevant cases and past cold cases bringing awareness to the victims and survivors.
Great true crime podcast!
Overrated in my opinion
Nic & the Captain - real friends drinkin' beers and talkin' true crime. While true, this podcast has top-notch production (original music by one of the hosts - whaaat??) and research. I listen to all manner of true crime podcasts, and Nic's research is the best I've heard so far. When the two hosts put their detective hats on and speculate on the crimes and perpetrators, you can imagine both of them being a real-life Starsky & Hutch. They're smart, funny and relatable, and their beer recommendations are a nice bonus. Keep up the great work, fellas!
I absolutely love the dynamic of The Captian and Nic. Thank you!
Nic is outstanding as the "play by play" lead person. Great at detailed explanations. But having a second person adds a little variety -- they just have a weak 2nd person. The Captain (and why is he called that? Former riverboat captain who fell overboard from too much boos?) plays the role of his sleepy, somewhat dense sidekick. Is he there to ask the simple, obvious questions that they think viewers are wondering? Usually he just states the obvious, and I catch myself thinking " if this guy is a retired police captain, it is no wonder so many crimes are unsolved." I think they could do so much better or add a 3rd person to be a better foil. Just when I think Nic needs a break from talking, the Captain drawls something obvious and I can't wait to hear Nic again. They both might be brilliant guys, but I feel most of what The Captain says is lost time.
This is one of my favorites. These guys are great. They are funny together. They research their episodes well. And they drink beer, what's not to love.
Absolutely would give the guys 100 stars if I could. Honestly still the best Podcast out there to date.
I enjoy listening to these guys. I hope they did at one stage actually record in a garage. I like their chemistry and that they get a bit silly sometimes. I also like how much detail they go into. Great for car journeys/commutes.
Definitely in my top 5 true crime podcasts! Both hosts keep me tuned into whatever case they on that week. The Captain has the perfect amount of sarcasm to lighten the mood when needed, especially on some of the more horrific crimes they cover. But not so much that it’s disrespectful, ya know. Much respect. Great work! Love love love! I look forward to the new episodes!! I am a forever fan! Sending my love xx from a small town in Arkansas :)
Thoughtful and thorough with great original soundtrack
Long time listener (2019) and just love Nic and the Captain.
One of my favorites. Nik is by far the best narrator and researcher for any True Crime Podcast, and the Captain is what I'd call the color commentator, if Nik was the play-by-play. Variety of cases is fantastic, they treat the cases well, like to get into historical cases, are extremely prolific in quantity of episodes, and are just well put together altogether. The Captain is a bit cringey with some of his...evaluations...but it's not that bad. Def recommend
TCG was one of the first True Crime podcasts I started listening to and it is still my favorite! The discussions between Nic and the Captain are engaging and offer good inside into each case.
I like the stories. I hate the pouring of the beer sound though.
Absolutely love what these guys do. A fun, informative and entertaining show.
I listen on stitcher but just came to say that y’all are the best. This new shaker heights series is phenomenal. the formatting is as on point as can be you guys nailed it. Also just wanted to shout out the captain (atleast I Hope) for creating a new music accompaniment every single show. Never a stale podcast. Thank you guys for being you and for the most part releasing 2 episodes a week (it’s very much appreciated). Love y’all!
