Welcome to the V -SEN weekend

0:05

morning live on V -SEN, the

0:07

sports betting network. We

0:09

are off and running on a

0:11

Saturday morning. Hello, everyone. I am

0:13

Tim Murray live from the Circus

0:16

Sportsbook in downtown Las

0:18

Vegas, Nevada. We got

0:20

a busy Saturday ahead. We've got

0:22

four games on the NBA

0:24

playoff docket. We've got four games

0:26

for the Stanley Cup playoffs,

0:28

and we will wrap up. The

0:30

NFL draft rounds four through

0:32

seven will start at noon

0:35

Eastern today. Busy show ahead

0:37

for you. A lot of

0:39

analysis of what we've seen

0:41

so far in the NFL draft.

0:43

What halls we like. Maybe

0:45

look at the offensive and defensive

0:48

rookie of the year odds. What

0:50

happened last night in the NBA

0:52

and on the ice. And

0:54

usually we start the show by

0:56

setting the scene for today and we

0:59

will get to that here in just

1:01

a matter of moments but we also

1:03

like to take a look back

1:05

at what unfolded last night or

1:07

what didn't unfold last

1:10

night as we saw

1:12

picks from 33 to 102

1:14

last night in the

1:16

NFL draft and we did

1:18

not hear the name Shador

1:20

Sanders. as

1:23

he is still on the board

1:25

as we head into the

1:27

third day of the NFL draft.

1:29

And I'm still young enough to remember

1:31

when me, Matt Brown and Matt

1:33

humans were on the airwaves at

1:35

seven o 'clock Eastern, considering

1:37

and contemplating, all right, where

1:39

could Shador Sanders ultimately

1:42

go tonight during our NFL draft

1:44

coverage of the first round? And all

1:46

the reports that were coming out seem

1:49

to indicate it could be 21. maybe

1:52

a team trades in to get Shador

1:54

Sanders. And as we got closer and

1:56

closer to the draft, on Thursday, mind

1:58

you, it felt like, all right, he

2:02

may drop out of the first round.

2:04

And after Pittsburgh decided to go

2:06

Derek Harmon, defensive tackle out

2:08

of Oregon with the 21st overall

2:10

pick, that was when you

2:13

started to think, yeah, he might

2:15

be waiting around until day number two.

2:17

And I went out there, I was sitting, with

2:19

Matt Brown who he and I were going

2:21

head to head on a bet over under two

2:24

and a half quarterbacks. I had the under,

2:26

he had the over. Jackson

2:28

Dark ultimately gets selected by the

2:30

New York Giants at 25. And

2:34

now the sweat was on for me. All right, is any

2:36

team going to trade in? A trade pops

2:38

up. I'm like, oh God, who is it

2:40

going to be? Who's coming in to get Shaddour Sanders? Remember,

2:43

Thursday night. But

2:46

it was the Philadelphia Eagles moving up.

2:48

one pick to get Jihad Campbell. Okay.

2:50

Here we go. On to day number

2:52

two. I threw in

2:54

another little bet. So I

2:56

had added a bet at plus

2:58

six 50 prior to the

3:00

draft unfolding of

3:03

Shaddur Sanders to land with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

3:05

Got great CLV on that one. And

3:08

then prior to the draft

3:10

coming back out, I

3:12

threw in a little, threw in a

3:15

little something on Las Vegas. to

3:17

select your door sanders. And

3:19

as the day went on and

3:21

as you started to hear the reporting,

3:23

I was pretty confident it wasn't going

3:25

to be New Orleans. Everything you had

3:27

read, it wasn't going to be New

3:29

Orleans. Tyler Shock goes 40th overall to New

3:31

Orleans. And then as

3:33

the third round started to come around

3:35

and I'm sitting there and I'm like,

3:38

is he really going to last

3:40

83 for the Pittsburgh Steelers? Pick,

3:44

pick, pick. Here it

3:46

is. Pick number 83

3:48

and the Pittsburgh Steelers go

3:50

with Iowa running back Caleb

3:52

Johnson. Quick aside, I

3:54

absolutely love that pick. We will discuss

3:56

that further on in the show.

3:58

But Caleb Johnson lasting to 83 was

4:01

pretty wild to me. And the fact

4:03

that the Pittsburgh Steelers who of

4:05

course lost Najee Harris in free agency

4:07

to Los Angeles Chargers, they get

4:09

with their only second pick because they

4:11

traded for DK Metcalf this offseason. They

4:13

get Iowa running back Caleb Johnson

4:15

83. That's a hell of a

4:17

selection at number 83. I

4:20

Think the wildest thing that unfolded

4:23

last night to me was that

4:25

I picked 94 the Cleveland Browns

4:27

who I talked to a couple

4:29

people in Cleveland not in the

4:31

front office just media members and

4:33

Everything they had heard at 33

4:35

and at 36 The indication was

4:37

it wasn't gonna be a quarterback.

4:39

They were right at 94 They

4:42

went with Dylan Gabriel. Look, we

4:44

are a betting network. I love

4:46

working here at Vecen because we don't

4:49

get into a lot of the

4:51

kind of minutiae that is out there

4:53

a lot. I don't

4:55

know why Shaddor Sanders is still

4:57

out there. I think there's a

4:59

lot that goes into it. I

5:02

am pretty wildly surprised that

5:04

here we are on Saturday.

5:06

April 26th before the fourth

5:08

round and we're talking about

5:10

where should or Sanders could

5:12

go today there are odds

5:14

out there right now of

5:16

Who could select should or

5:18

Sanders at this point ladies

5:20

and gentlemen? I mean

5:22

I guess I was throwing

5:24

darts prior to the draft and

5:26

on Friday, but at this

5:28

point who the hell knows fourth

5:30

round picks are Players who

5:32

could come in and contribute, but

5:34

at this point I think

5:36

you're Kind of shrugging your

5:39

shoulders. It could be Pittsburgh again. It

5:41

could be Las Vegas who has

5:43

the sixth pick today, but it could

5:45

be anyone else. It could be

5:47

the Rams. Why not? It could be

5:49

a Team like the San Francisco

5:51

49ers People have thrown out Dallas Cowboys.

5:53

I guess that wouldn't make a

5:56

whole lot of sense. They went out

5:58

and traded for Joe Milton this

6:00

year, but It is wild. I don't

6:02

know why he's still here I

6:05

don't know where he ultimately go. Hopefully

6:07

we'll be on the air when he is

6:09

selected because that would be a lot

6:11

of fun. Remember the draft starts again coming

6:14

up at noon Eastern. Mike

6:16

Sanford's going to join the show coming up at

6:18

the bottom of the hour. And

6:20

we'll get his thoughts because he was

6:22

in studio with us on visa and

6:24

prime time a little under two weeks

6:26

ago. And we talked about the quarterbacks

6:28

in this draft class. And

6:30

he raved about Shador Sanders.

6:32

He lives in the Denver area.

6:34

Remember. Mike was the coach

6:37

prior to Coach Prime coming in.

6:39

He had limited interactions, I

6:41

believe, with the Sanders family, but

6:43

he got to cover that

6:45

football program and he raved about

6:48

Shador Sanders. So was

6:50

it the interview process? Is

6:52

it the lack of agent? I

6:54

have no idea. But the fact

6:56

that we've had 102 picks is

6:58

pretty surprising. And now We will

7:00

see what happens later on today.

7:03

As for the betting aspect of

7:05

Shaddour Sanders today, Pittsburgh being the

7:07

favorite at plus 190, the Raiders

7:09

being at plus 350. I

7:12

guess you could take a wild shot,

7:14

maybe throw some darts out there. It's probably

7:17

not going to be the Cleveland Browns

7:19

at 30 to 1. I think that's safe

7:21

to say after they went Dylan Gabriel

7:23

94, probably not going to be the Seattle

7:25

Seahawks who decided to draft Jalen Milrow

7:27

last night. But

7:30

it is going to be interesting to see

7:32

how today ultimately unfolds. We'll set the scene

7:34

for you coming up on the other side.

7:36

If I had to make a wild prediction

7:39

right now, I guess not wild at this

7:41

point. I still

7:43

think Pittsburgh, everything you heard, they do

7:45

like Shaddor Sanders. I still think he

7:47

could ultimately land there in Pittsburgh, but

7:49

they have to wait. I think about

7:51

18, 19 picks today. So we'll see

7:53

how this ultimately comes together. But I

7:56

do want to dive into the

7:58

draft, some of my favorite halls, some

8:00

of the rookies that I think could

8:02

make instant impacts. And once again, I'll

8:04

circle back to this at 83, the

8:06

Pittsburgh Steelers passing on Shador for Caleb

8:08

Johnson out of Iowa. I'm

8:11

not saying I like them passing

8:13

on Shador Sanders, but I love the

8:15

pick of Caleb Johnson there at

8:17

number 83 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. I

8:19

think he at 30 to 1

8:21

to an offensive rookie of the year

8:23

is kind of interesting right now

8:25

because there's a good chance he's a

8:27

day one starter there in Pittsburgh.

8:29

All right. What also unfolded late last

8:31

night was a hell of a

8:33

finish between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the

8:35

Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James was

8:37

kind of going vintage LeBron at moments

8:39

in that fourth quarter. As he

8:41

finished up with 38 points, Luca Doncic,

8:43

that's a floater in the lane,

8:46

ties the game at 103, but

8:48

Anthony Edwards, remember

8:50

last year, thought, okay, here

8:53

comes the next superstar moments

8:55

last night. showed you that,

8:57

okay, this could be the

8:59

dude. Jaden McDaniels, just a

9:01

phenomenal performance yesterday for the

9:04

Minnesota Timberwolves dropping 30. And

9:06

the Minnesota Timberwolves outscore the Lakers

9:08

with the final four and a half

9:10

minutes, 13 to one.

9:12

They win 116 to 104. And

9:15

now LeBron James and the Lakers,

9:17

they're down two games to one with

9:19

game four in the Twin Cities

9:21

coming up on Sunday. Here's LeBron last

9:23

night. We got to control the

9:25

controllables. And I don't think we did that tonight,

9:27

obviously. 19 turnovers

9:29

on the road is not going to

9:31

be a good ingredients for winning, giving

9:34

up 30 points off those turnovers.

9:37

They had 20 plus points in transition

9:39

as well. So we got to

9:41

control the controllables. And if we do

9:43

that, we give ourselves a good

9:45

chance to win. We

9:48

talk about this all the

9:50

time here. at the network, the

9:52

zigzag, right? The desperation spot. During

9:55

the fall, this is a college

9:57

football show and we do the

9:59

Murray's delicatessen. I look at sandwich

10:01

spots, situational angles. If

10:03

you were a situational

10:06

better last night, congratulations.

10:09

Because last night, every

10:11

team in the NHL

10:13

and in the NBA who

10:15

was down 0 -2, guess

10:17

what they did? They

10:19

won. The Orlando

10:21

Magic down 0 -2 against

10:24

the Boston Celtics. A banged

10:26

up Boston team, but

10:28

still a five and a

10:30

half point underdog in

10:32

Orlando. The Magic

10:34

win 95 -93. The

10:37

Milwaukee Bucks down early and

10:39

then we had the Gary Trent

10:41

Junior game. Things that have

10:43

never been uttered before on the

10:45

show. Milwaukee comes back.

10:47

They win and cover as

10:49

well. The Montreal Canadiens down 0

10:52

-2 north of the border. We

10:54

had a little fracas on

10:56

the ice between the Canadians and

10:58

the Washington Capitals. Canadians win

11:00

that game. The Devils double overtime

11:02

winner. They get it done.

11:04

The Edmonton Oilers down 0 -2 score a

11:06

billion goals in the third period. They

11:08

get it done. And I know

11:10

you hate this, but I'm going to

11:13

say it anyways. If

11:15

you were out there and

11:17

you said desperation moneyline parlay ladies

11:19

and gentlemen, you put Orlando

11:22

to Milwaukee to Montreal to New

11:24

Jersey to Edmonton paid you

11:26

34 to one. Or if you

11:28

just said it's a home

11:30

team time of night through in

11:32

Minnesota would have been 55

11:35

to one. The zigzag came home

11:37

last night. But Shador Sanders

11:39

has yet to find a home, and

11:41

we'll see what happens as the day unfolds.

11:43

Speaking of which, we'll get you set

11:45

for today. We'll set the seat next. It

11:47

is the V -SIN Weekend Morning Live. Saturday

12:10

morning live from the circus sports

12:12

book in downtown Las Vegas a busy

12:14

Saturday, you know The college basketball

12:16

season wrapped up, you know, I'm a

12:18

big college basketball guy I was

12:20

a little sad after the college football

12:23

season, of course came to a

12:25

close also being the fact that Notre

12:27

Dame got I wouldn't say smoked

12:29

but you know did lose the national

12:31

championship to Ohio State, but here

12:33

we are August 26 We got four

12:36

playoff games in the NBA.

12:38

Four games on the ice. We got

12:40

the final four rounds of the

12:42

NFL Draft. It's gonna be a great

12:44

day. Got a lot of

12:46

intrigue still regarding the NFL Draft. I'm

12:49

not a big conspiracy theory guy. I

12:52

like to keep it pretty, pretty simple.

12:54

I like to say this all the

12:56

time. Not everything's black and white. There's

12:58

a lot of gray areas. So we'll get

13:00

into why we think it happened. But

13:02

at the end of the day, it

13:04

did happen. And as betters,

13:06

how can we react to

13:09

the Shaddur Sanders fall? What does

13:11

it mean from a betting

13:13

standpoint? What can we do today

13:15

to potentially make money on

13:17

the Shaddur Sanders fall? That is

13:19

the way I'm looking at

13:22

it right now. 102 picks in.

13:24

We've seen quarterbacks go. I

13:27

would say the Dylan Gabriel selection

13:29

was probably the most surprising to

13:31

me at number 94, the Cleveland

13:33

Browns, who I would say And

13:35

we'll dive into this in the second

13:37

hour of the show. Kind of liked

13:40

what the Cleveland Browns did. Trading

13:42

out at number two, getting some

13:44

additional draft capital. And some of the

13:46

pieces they added to that roster, I

13:48

thought were pretty intriguing. Mason Graham being

13:50

there with the fifth overall pick. We'll

13:52

dive into the NFL draft. We'll get

13:54

some thoughts. Mike Sanford going to join

13:56

the program coming up at the bottom

13:59

of the hour. Mike joined us all

14:01

throughout the college football season. lives

14:03

in the Denver area. So I'm sure

14:06

there's plenty of people thinking about what

14:08

is going on with Shaddor Sanders or

14:10

where he could ultimately go. Mark Malusas

14:12

will help us break it down the

14:14

moose who was also filling in for

14:16

me last week. So we appreciate that.

14:18

We'll get his thoughts from the Giants

14:20

perspective is I'll say this too. Maybe

14:22

I'm going to be too positive. I

14:24

don't know. Count like what

14:26

the Giants did. Abdul Carter at three. Didn't

14:29

do what they did in 2019, which

14:31

was overdraft a quarterback and then traded

14:34

back in and got Jackson Dart at

14:36

25. We'll talk to JVT hour number

14:38

two. We'll get some NBA thoughts with

14:40

him. Jonathan Davis will help us break

14:42

down the four games on the ice

14:44

today. Matt humans on the

14:46

NFL draft in the final hour of

14:48

the program and Chuck Esposito our

14:50

weekly check in from behind the counter.

14:52

So that's what you have in

14:54

store for today from a guest standpoint

14:56

here on the recent weekend morning

14:58

line. But let's get you ready for

15:01

what to anticipate today from a

15:03

betting standpoint. Let's set the scene. Let's

15:06

dive in to the biggest

15:08

games of the day Well the

15:10

biggest story of the day

15:12

of course will involve The NFL

15:14

draft should or Sanders maybe

15:16

your conspiracy theorists and said hey

15:18

they made a call and

15:20

said we need the ratings to

15:22

be better No one picked

15:24

should or until day number three

15:26

of course that didn't happen,

15:28

but Crazier things have been

15:30

said. The Shador slide. When will

15:32

it end? To me is the number

15:35

one story of the day and

15:37

we discussed it briefly. I'll

15:39

revisit it here. If you look

15:41

at DraftKings as for who could

15:43

ultimately select Shador Sanders. I've got

15:45

two live bets going into the

15:47

draft. I took a flyer on

15:49

the Pittsburgh Steelers at plus 650

15:51

and I want to say on

15:53

draft day that became the odds

15:55

on favorite to come home. And

15:57

now the Steelers are still the

15:59

favorite, but at this point, you

16:01

gotta just shoulder shrug and say,

16:03

ah, I don't know. I don't

16:05

know where he's gonna ultimately land.

16:07

I can't recommend a bet unless

16:09

you're just throwing darts at the,

16:11

at the board there and no

16:13

pun intended with Jackson Dart already

16:15

being off the board with the

16:17

New York Giants. But the odds

16:19

right now at DraftKings, Steelers plus

16:21

190, Raiders plus 350, Jets

16:24

and Rams plus 650,

16:26

Cowboys plus 650, as

16:28

well as we look at, you

16:30

know, the draft order today

16:32

and who is up early, you

16:35

will see the Las Vegas

16:37

Raiders picking with the sixth overall

16:39

pick here today. Could that

16:41

be the spot? Maybe, but I

16:43

thought when they came up on

16:45

the clock yesterday at 98 and

16:47

99 and my mind started going,

16:49

all right, Tom Brady. Pick

16:52

199, maybe at

16:54

99, he selects Shador Sanders and

16:56

instead they pick the tackle

16:58

out of William and Mary, shouts

17:00

to the tribe for getting

17:02

a draft pick there. So who

17:04

knows? The Pittsburgh Steelers, by

17:06

the way, on the clock at

17:08

pick 123. So

17:11

maybe it's the Pittsburgh Steelers. I

17:13

still think if I had to

17:15

guess and that's what we're all

17:17

doing, it would be the Pittsburgh

17:19

Steelers. in the fourth round because

17:21

Mike Tomlin, from all accounts, and

17:23

he does not mince words, likes

17:26

Shador Sanders. But it also could

17:28

be the Raiders. We'll see. For

17:30

personal purposes, outside of just my two

17:32

bets that I have, both the Raiders

17:34

and the Steelers to select Shador Sanders, I

17:37

hope he gets picked by the

17:39

Raiders with the sixth overall pick of

17:41

the fourth round because it'll probably

17:43

happen on the air and we could

17:45

discuss it later on today. Third

17:47

round starts noon Eastern today. on

17:49

the clock right now,

17:51

the Tennessee Titans with pick

17:53

103. Jimmy's

17:56

down. Also something to keep an

17:58

eye on today. Had to throw in

18:00

a little Seinfeld reference. The

18:02

old Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy working

18:04

left, Jimmy working right. Will

18:07

we see Jimmy Butler tonight

18:09

for the Golden State Warriors

18:11

as the Warriors right now?

18:14

in a 1 -1 series tie

18:16

with the Houston Rockets. 830 Eastern

18:18

tip time is this one.

18:20

The Golden State Warriors at home

18:23

find themselves a three -point favorite,

18:25

but Jimmy Butler dealing with

18:27

an injury. Here's his head coach,

18:29

Steve Kerr. All

18:33

right, we will, oh, there we

18:35

go. We'll

18:37

see I mean, you know, this

18:39

is a day -to -day thing for sure

18:41

and we'll see how it feels

18:44

tomorrow But I think there's a chance

18:46

he plays do you have to

18:48

know it knowing that you have to

18:50

like make two Game plans rotations

18:52

as not not two game plans, but

18:54

two rotations for sure the game

18:56

plan doesn't change All right, I don't

18:59

think he plays that's just a

19:01

guess for me. This is what the

19:03

Warriors put out yesterday. He

19:06

underwent an MRI Jimmy

19:08

Butler did with that pelvis

19:10

contusion MRI of the

19:12

injury. He is questionable for.

19:14

today. The Warriors a

19:16

three point favorite against the

19:18

Houston Rockets dropping game

19:20

number two in H town.

19:22

We'll talk to JVT

19:24

and our number two to

19:26

get his thoughts on

19:28

the nightcap of the quadruple

19:31

header of NBA action

19:33

we have today that game

19:35

830 Eastern and then

19:37

we've got a Jollis situation

19:39

in Oklahoma City. So

19:41

Jollis in OKC as John

19:43

Moran will not play

19:45

and after you squander a

19:47

29 point lead probably

19:49

seasons over. FedEx Forum

19:51

this afternoon I would be rather

19:54

floored and once again Point

19:56

Pred would tell you so so

19:58

that the 15 point underdog

20:00

Memphis Grizzlies who blew a 29

20:02

point lead to the Oklahoma

20:05

City Thunder get a win today.

20:07

So I think the season

20:09

is done. for the Memphis Grizzlies

20:11

and kind of a weird

20:13

way to end the year, no

20:16

doubt, for the Memphis Grizzlies

20:18

in this regard, where they get

20:20

into the postseason, they

20:22

lose the first play in

20:24

game, they win the second

20:26

impressively, they fired their

20:28

coach, of course, a couple

20:30

weeks prior to the end of the

20:32

season, regular season, that is. And

20:35

now here they are, they're going to get swept. And

20:38

they also don't get their first round

20:40

pick because of the Marcus smart trade

20:42

So they shipped out Marcus smart to

20:44

Washington Attach the first round pick for

20:46

salary cap reasons and now they're more

20:48

than likely not gonna Oh, they don't

20:50

have that pick because it is not

20:53

going to be a Lottery pick jokers

20:55

are wild. We'll see if the Denver

20:57

Nuggets can bounce back after getting to

21:23

do the

21:26

Clippers potentially give the Oklahoma City

21:28

Thunder a run for their money going

21:30

back to the Thunder situation another

21:32

reason why get it done today you

21:34

get that extended rest because Denver

21:36

not not ready to count them out

21:38

just yet but right now the

21:41

Clippers a six and a half point

21:43

favorite and then on the ice

21:45

today ladies and gentlemen four more games

21:47

on the ice it starts at

21:49

one o 'clock Eastern we've got Tampa

21:51

Bay at Florida with Florida up 2

21:53

-0 in that series so do we

21:55

see Florida who went on the

21:58

road and took games one and two

22:00

take care of business we've got

22:02

Vegas at Minnesota with the wild now

22:04

up two games to one the

22:06

Vegas Golden Knights the favorite there Toronto

22:08

at Ottawa and then the late -night

22:10

game Dallas at Colorado that one

22:12

poof If you're a Colorado

22:15

backer, like I have a little

22:17

taste of the Colorado Avalanche, that

22:19

is a frustrating series so far

22:21

for Colorado Avalanche backers as the

22:23

stars have a 2 -1 series lead

22:25

as they go to Colorado here

22:27

tonight. Hey, folks, if you're looking

23:00

You're tuned in to the V -SIN

23:02

weekend morning line. We

23:05

keep it rolling here. Here on

23:07

a Saturday morning live from the

23:10

Circus Sports Book in downtown Las

23:12

Vegas, men fired up for today.

23:14

I love today. Four NBA playoff

23:16

games, four playoff hockey games, and

23:18

the conclusion of the NFL Draft.

23:20

And who would have thunk it

23:22

that here we are, 103 picks

23:25

into the NFL Draft, and Shador

23:27

Sanders. quarterback of the Colorado

23:29

Buffalo's still on the board. A

23:31

gentleman who knows a thing or two

23:33

about Shador Sanders as well as

23:35

all things going on in Denver as

23:37

it's a busy day up there

23:39

in the mile high city as we

23:41

wait for Shador Sanders, the Denver

23:43

Nuggets down two games to one, the

23:45

Colorado Avalanche down two games to

23:47

one. Mike Sanford joins us right now

23:49

courtesy of our progressive guest line,

23:51

our coach here on the program. Man,

23:54

who would have thunk it that

23:56

we've got this situation? and it all

23:58

kind of comes to a head

24:00

in your city. I'm sure you've had

24:02

plenty to discuss on your radio

24:04

program there in Denver. But look, you're

24:06

familiar with Shador. Obviously, you guys

24:08

were kind of two ships passing in

24:10

the night at Colorado, but

24:12

you've been in the media for the past couple of

24:14

years. What do you make

24:16

of this situation? And

24:18

then we'll talk more about, Mike,

24:20

what comes next, but just what's

24:23

your thoughts on why this fall

24:25

has ultimately happened to Shador Sanders? Well,

24:28

the number one thing is that Shador Sanders

24:30

is somebody in my eyes that I love

24:32

as a player. And I look at NFL

24:34

quarterback play comes down to being able to

24:36

move the sticks on third down with some

24:38

of those advanced throws. I've seen that from

24:40

shoot or Sanders over the last two years

24:42

at the University of Colorado. And frankly, I

24:44

was fired by his dad. So I shouldn't

24:46

be a little bit skeptical about the guy.

24:48

But the other piece of it is he

24:50

wins games when the game's in the balance

24:52

with two minutes to go. And that's that's

24:54

another aspect of NFL football. It seems like

24:56

there's so much parody in the NFL and

24:58

it comes down to the last couple of

25:00

minutes and who's going to execute at the

25:02

quarterback position better. He's better than anybody in

25:04

this draft. I could promise you he's better

25:06

than Jalen Milrow in that space. I know

25:08

he's better without question, the Jackson dart. Just

25:10

go watch the dang Florida game and watch

25:13

the Kentucky game and see how he performed

25:15

down the stretch in those games. There's

25:17

no justification for the, for him not being

25:19

drafted based off what's going on on the

25:21

field. Now I do think this is a

25:23

very, very weak quarterback class. And I feel

25:25

that way about cam ward. I don't think

25:27

he is a bona fide number one. In

25:29

fact, I don't know that he would be

25:31

in a redraft of the 2024 class. I

25:34

don't know if he'd be in the top

25:36

six. Can you make that argument that he's

25:38

better than bone X? If you know what

25:40

you know now, I would say no. So

25:43

I think that Shaddur Sanders is

25:45

sliding as a result of, I

25:47

don't know that he necessarily wanted

25:49

to play for some of the

25:51

early round teams because of the

25:53

nature versus nurture conversation and going

25:55

into a bad environment, say the

25:57

browns, the giants, those

25:59

types of situations. So if you

26:01

don't do well with those particular teams,

26:03

you take a couple of teams off

26:05

the board that potentially could take you.

26:07

And now, you know, it's like if

26:09

you wanted to, you know, set your

26:11

landing point or your destination, there

26:13

aren't very many options. And I don't

26:15

think that should or Sanders is built

26:17

for backup quarterback life in the national

26:19

football league. And I think that that's

26:21

a big, a big factor in this.

26:23

Now, I think that whoever drafts should

26:25

or Sanders is going to have a

26:27

franchise and a head coach. that has

26:29

major credibility. Somebody who has a

26:32

lot of confidence and self -belief. In fact,

26:34

I think it's going to come from either

26:36

the Shanahan Tree of coaches that all have

26:38

the cool haircuts and they dress nice and

26:40

they love the glitz and the glam. Or

26:42

I think it might come from Pete

26:44

Carroll and Las Vegas Raiders. Um, but

26:46

I just don't think an insecure head

26:48

coach in a very insecure environment as

26:50

it relates to their job would draft

26:52

should or Sanders. Why? Well, by the

26:54

way, your replacement, the fan base is

26:56

going to want is, is, is your

26:58

quarterbacks father or your backup quarterbacks father.

27:00

Um, so here we are in the

27:02

fourth round and it's going to be

27:04

fascinating. Uh, ESPN is. Loving this right

27:07

now. I mean now Kuiper Mel Kuiper

27:09

might my Mel Kuiper might spontaneous combust

27:11

into his seat, man He is he's

27:13

losing his mind right now Out there

27:15

on the draft on the draft dais

27:17

there, but we will see you know,

27:19

it's funny Mike We were texting yesterday,

27:21

and I thought all right. Who could

27:23

it be? Could it be you know?

27:25

I thought maybe the Raiders I still

27:27

think the Steelers obviously could be a

27:29

landing spot You talked about a coach

27:31

that is is confident. They've only had

27:33

two picks. I just a quick aside

27:35

here real quickly, because you and I

27:37

love college football. You're now a high

27:39

school football coach up there in Denver

27:41

at Valor Christian. So you're going to

27:43

be keeping an eye on all of

27:45

these teams. When Pittsburgh came to the

27:47

board at 83, I was like, all

27:49

right, here's the spot. And then I

27:51

actually really liked the decision to take

27:53

Caleb Johnson, the running back out of

27:55

Iowa, because I think he's going to

27:57

be awesome in Pittsburgh. I think he

27:59

could potentially win Rookie of the Year.

28:01

So Maybe he still goes to Pittsburgh,

28:03

but I understand the decision for Pittsburgh

28:06

at 83 to bypass Shador Sanders because

28:08

to me, Mike, I think they addressed

28:10

a really glaring need with a damn

28:12

good running back. Caleb Johnson,

28:14

does he not just look like a

28:16

Pittsburgh stealer running back? He's the perfect wide

28:18

zone one cut back that you've seen.

28:20

It's like a fresher, Najee Harris cause Najee

28:22

Harris looks to be a bit long

28:24

in the tooth and, you know, running backs

28:26

where their miles on him pretty quickly.

28:28

That is a sneaky, great pick. And I'm

28:30

really excited to see just how that

28:32

today plays out because I think there are

28:34

some very exciting picks that could be

28:36

in that same conversation. And one that has,

28:38

I do, I will admit it has

28:40

some local bias here is I worked for

28:42

the CSU Rams and did some of

28:44

their stuff, broadcast four of their games this

28:46

past season. And when Tori Horton is

28:48

fully healthy, that is a big time wide

28:50

receiver. And he came off a surgical

28:52

procedure in his lower body. I believe it

28:54

was a knee and he still went

28:56

to the combine, still ran and ran in

28:58

the four fours of the guy that

29:00

had tons of production is six foot three

29:02

inches tall, you know, needs it round

29:04

200 pounds. So Torrey Horton's a very, very

29:06

high value pick today, as well as

29:08

tight end gunner helm from the university of

29:10

Texas. Also, ironically, a local product here. And

29:13

then I'm anxious to see what happens

29:15

with cams, cataboo cams, cataboo is a player

29:17

that I just for one reason or

29:19

another is going to have some semblance of

29:21

a run this year where ESPN's leading

29:23

their big story with everybody slept on this

29:25

guy. And here he is leading the

29:28

NFL and rushing this weekend. I just think

29:30

that could happen. So day three is

29:32

going to be fascinating TV. Like

29:34

I said, ESPN is going to love the

29:36

fact that they have major viewership on

29:38

a day three of a draft. Last year

29:40

it was all very top heavy. That

29:42

first round was dynamic. And then after that,

29:44

you're like, ah, I think I'm going

29:46

to watch the NBA and NHL playoffs. Yeah,

29:49

Cam Scattaboo, by the way, over under at

29:51

Circa was 120 and a half. So that

29:53

is going to be one thing. I'll keep

29:55

an eye on there to see where the

29:57

Arizona State running back ultimately goes. We're talking

29:59

to Mike Stanford, our coach. He's

30:01

now head coach up there at

30:03

Christian McCaffrey's alma mater, Valor Christian. And

30:05

he's going to be hitting the

30:07

field here soon enough there as the

30:09

new head coach, but also a

30:11

radio host as well. up there on

30:13

Altitude Sports Radio. All right, let's

30:16

get to just some of the situations

30:18

and we'll start with Travis Hunter. So

30:20

the Jacksonville Jaguars with a Doogie Houser

30:23

GM there, the Young Buck and Gladstone,

30:25

they make a aggressive move. And I

30:27

said this. I actually liked it for

30:29

both sides. I liked what Cleveland did.

30:31

I've liked their haul so far moving

30:33

back. But what do you make of

30:35

this fit for the Jacksonville Jaguars? They

30:37

wanted a splash at offense. We thought

30:40

maybe you would be Gentie. Maybe you'd

30:42

be Ted McMillan. They said, no, no,

30:44

we're going to go get Travis Hunter.

30:46

So now you've got Travis Hunter down

30:48

there with Trevor Lawrence. What do you

30:50

expect to see from him in his

30:52

rookie season? I think it's

30:54

going to be dynamic. It's going to

30:57

be. It's going to be fireworks. You can

30:59

tell that there is a there's a

31:01

franchise wide decision to fully invest in all

31:03

of the different attributes that Travis Hunter

31:05

is going to bring to the football field

31:07

for a franchise that frankly needs a

31:09

little bit of fanfare, needs a little bit

31:11

of connection to its local fan base.

31:13

Why not draft a local product that grew

31:15

up just four hours down the coast

31:17

in West Palm Beach, Florida and is the

31:19

best player in this draft? There is

31:21

no. doubt about the most dynamic football player

31:23

in this draft is Travis Hunter. In

31:25

fact, I thought it was a massive mistake

31:27

by the Tennessee Titans to bypass them

31:29

at number one, even to get a quarterback,

31:31

because I think he is that good

31:34

of a player. He is going to be

31:36

spoken about like Justin Jefferson on the

31:38

offensive side of the ball, because I think

31:40

the only person that has his level

31:42

of ball skills in the national football league

31:44

at the receiver position is Justin Jefferson. And

31:46

then on the defensive side of the ball,

31:49

I believe he's going to be used sparingly

31:51

in a dime and or nickel type package

31:53

to come in and be a matchup problem

31:55

for, for whoever is an elite slot receiver,

31:57

possibly if you have two outside receivers, like

31:59

in a game, if you're playing against the

32:01

Jamar chase and a T Higgins, that's a

32:03

heavy game for Travis Hunter to play on

32:05

the defensive side of the ball because of

32:07

matchups. I think it's a tremendous pick. I

32:09

think it's a franchise that knew what they

32:11

wanted to do. There was a agreement between

32:13

general manager. head coach and they're both new

32:15

so they can start this thing fresh with

32:18

the right the right type of equation of

32:20

how to utilize them. And I think it's

32:22

going to be heavily on offense because we

32:24

all know that our guy that loves the

32:26

old do. He

32:28

loves to be able to throw the football down

32:30

the field. And that's the perfect guy to do

32:32

it. All right, Mike, before we let you run,

32:34

you got your Boise State helmet over your shoulder

32:36

there. You're an alum of Boise State. He did

32:38

some work for the Broncos as well with Bronco

32:40

Nation News. Ashton Gentie coming to mind that could

32:42

the woods Las Vegas. He's the betting favorite to

32:44

win rookie of the year. 45 seconds on this

32:47

fit. 45 seconds. I could

32:49

go for 45 minutes on him. He's

32:51

a player that I absolutely love. And

32:53

it started a year ago in the

32:55

2023 season that saw head coach Andy

32:57

Avalos, one of my former teammates get

32:59

fired because they weren't giving the ball

33:01

to him. He's a backup. The guy

33:03

was a backup in 2023 to George

33:06

Hulani, who now plays for the Seahawks.

33:08

Ashton Gentie is the ultimate workhorse. Think

33:10

exact fit of Pete Carroll and what

33:12

he did with Marshawn Lynch in beast

33:14

mode. This is the fit. You're going

33:16

to have a perfect representative. of the

33:18

franchise. You have a face to the

33:21

franchise, which I don't think you've really

33:23

had in Las Vegas. Max Crosby, great

33:25

player, but you need an offensive face

33:27

to the franchise. You got it. And

33:29

Ashton Jetty will be the best rookie

33:31

in this class in terms of production.

33:33

Check him out on altitude sports radio.

33:35

34:04

morning line. We

34:06

keep it rolling here on a Saturday

34:09

morning live from the Circus Sports Book

34:11

in downtown Las Vegas. We got a

34:13

whole lot to get to a busy,

34:15

busy sports day. Of course, the sports

34:17

story is that Shador Sanders still available,

34:19

and we will see where he ultimately

34:21

is selected. The draft reconvenes at noon

34:24

Eastern. The Tennessee Titans on the clock

34:26

with pick 103, but we got four

34:28

NBA games to get to four NHL

34:30

games to break down for you. and

34:32

recap of, of course, what unfolded the

34:34

first two nights of the NFL draft.

34:36

And Mark Malusis, who's been doing work

34:39

for us here at Vecen, which is

34:41

awesome, but also you can hear him

34:43

on WFAN as well as see him

34:45

on PIX there in New York joins

34:47

us courtesy of our progressive guest line.

34:49

And Mark, I'll start with this. I

34:51

don't know what your thoughts were. We

34:54

were having talks off the air regarding

34:56

just industry stuff. So I am fresh

34:58

to know your take on what the

35:00

Giants did at three. Side note, I

35:02

loved it. I think Abdul Carter is

35:04

an absolute monster. What did you make

35:07

of the Giants decision at three to

35:09

go with Penn State Edd rusher Abdul

35:11

Carter? Yeah. You know, my

35:13

dad used to not say it to

35:15

me, but used to basically have this mantra

35:17

kiss, right? Keep it simple, stupid. And I

35:19

don't think, I mean, the, the Giants say,

35:21

I think with that third overall pick arguably

35:23

might have gotten the best player in

35:25

the draft, like the cleanest prospect in the

35:27

draft in Abdul Carter, right? So if you

35:29

take positions out of the equation, I think

35:32

the Giants looked at it and based

35:34

on the history, right? They didn't necessarily reach

35:36

for a quarterback a year ago when they

35:38

had Daniel Jones coming off an injury, but

35:40

they'd, you know, Daniel Jones still in

35:42

the fold for, and they went with Malik

35:44

neighbors at LSU, right? Passed on guys like

35:46

JJ McCarthy and Michael Pennix and, you know,

35:48

people are up in arms. So I

35:50

think the giants went through the draft process,

35:52

did all their homework on each and every

35:54

one of these quarterbacks. I think they love

35:56

Cam Ward. They couldn't get them. The Tennessee

35:59

Titans were moving off the number one

36:01

overall pick, you know, but that's the quarterback

36:03

they loved. He was the best quarterback in

36:05

this draft class. If they were able to

36:07

move up to one, they would have

36:09

drafted Cam Ward, but they weren't able to

36:11

do it. So sitting there at three, I

36:13

really think it came down to a

36:16

scenario, whatever happened at two. they were going

36:18

to take the next player. So if

36:20

somebody moved up and the Jaguars did, but

36:22

they ended up taking Travis Hunter out

36:24

of Colorado, the Giants take Abdul Carter. If

36:26

somebody moved up and took Abdul Carter too,

36:28

I think the Giants would have taken Travis

36:30

Hunter out of Colorado. And they're

36:32

in that position of taking great players. And

36:34

those arguably those two players were the best

36:36

two players in this draft. And they ended

36:38

up with one of them. And now the

36:40

Giants defense has got a big time identity

36:43

when you pair up Carter with Burns, Tibido,

36:45

Dexter, Lawrence, you throw in

36:47

the additions they had in the off

36:49

season to the defensive secondary where there

36:51

be Holland from Miami at Debo, the

36:53

big corner who's often injured from the

36:55

New Orleans Saints. But when he's healthy,

36:57

he's really productive. Now, Shane Bowen year

36:59

two as defensive coordinator, this front seven,

37:01

it could give this Giants team a

37:03

big time identity in 2025. Yeah, there's

37:05

no doubt. And you know, Darius Alexander,

37:07

I thought was a nice pick up.

37:09

We'll see what he does from the

37:11

production standpoint, the tackle out of Toledo

37:13

there. So they go defense with their

37:15

first and third round pick. But then

37:18

of course, trade back in moves with.

37:20

Jackson Dart and as as the wind

37:22

started to kind of come together on

37:24

Thursday morning, it seemed based off of

37:26

the betting odds. This was the guy

37:28

that they wanted Jackson Dart and they

37:30

went out and they got him trading

37:32

in with Houston at 25 and they

37:34

select Jackson Dart from everything you've gathered

37:36

over the past, you know, 24 plus

37:38

hours here. You know, there's Russell Wilson.

37:40

You know, there's James Winston. Is this

37:42

a full on red shirt situation with

37:44

Jackson Dart? What's your expectation for Dart

37:46

in New York? Yeah. I think

37:48

Dave said it the other day, Tim, when,

37:50

when he, when they were talking about the

37:52

pick and after they moved up to get

37:54

dart out of Ole Miss is that, you

37:56

know, ended all the conjecture speculation. Russell Wilson

37:58

is the starting quarterback for the New York

38:00

giants a week one. Could that change as

38:02

the season goes along? Yeah. I mean, because

38:04

if you look at it on paper right

38:06

now, the giants are the fourth best team

38:09

in the NFC East, right? The Eagles are

38:11

defending Super Bowl champs. You've got Washington with

38:13

Jane Daniels. You expect the Dallas Cowboys to

38:15

be healthier. So could that change as the

38:17

season goes? along of Wilson isn't suc to

38:22

start Jackson Dart week one. That's the

38:24

scenario. Here's what, you know, talking to

38:26

people within the building after the selection

38:28

of Dart, what Dave will love them.

38:31

The throws under pressure. He

38:34

was the best quarterback with throws under

38:36

pressure outside of, you know, they're they're a

38:38

factuation for Cam Ward, right? Jackson Dart

38:40

was number two on their draft board. They

38:43

like his competitive nature. They like the

38:45

fact that he's got a little bit

38:47

of moxie to them. They think he's

38:49

really coachable. He nailed the pre draft

38:51

process. throughout the course of the spring

38:53

after the college football season came to

38:55

an end. They liked the fact

38:57

of his accuracy on the first and second

38:59

level. They understand the deep

39:01

balls got a little bit of work to

39:03

do and they know that he needs a

39:06

little bit of an adjustment when it comes

39:08

to working a pro style offense. That's why

39:10

I don't know if it's a true red

39:12

shirt year. If the Giants are winning games

39:14

with Russell will be a true red shirt

39:16

year. There's no rush. dables the quarterback whisper.

39:18

And if he is, he got the guy

39:20

that he wants to be able to mold

39:22

and mend. And they believe that he's got

39:25

the intangibles and he's got the physical physical

39:27

attributes that they're looking for in a starting

39:29

quarterback in the National Football League and their

39:31

future franchise quarterback. Mark Malousa is joining us

39:33

here courtesy of our progressive guest line. Catch

39:35

him on WFAN PIX TV there in New

39:37

York and also from time to time here

39:39

on Vecen as well. Flipping over to the

39:41

other locker room there in New Jersey. The

39:44

jets go with Armand Membo at seven. We've

39:46

got a new era there with Aaron Glenn.

39:48

There was thoughts going in. He's going to

39:50

want a defensive guy. Maybe it's Jihad Barron.

39:52

I didn't ever buy really into that. But

39:54

you know, once again, you said, kiss, keep

39:56

it simple, stupid. It feels like the way

39:58

the board fell is like, all right, we're

40:00

going to get arguably the best offensive lineman

40:03

in this class at seven. Let's just go

40:05

that way. So nothing too flashy. But what

40:07

have you made of what the jets have

40:09

done so far here in the draft? Yeah,

40:11

I like it, Tim. I mean, like I

40:13

look at the scenario and I say the

40:16

jets have had an issue running the football,

40:18

their offensive line a year ago, whether it

40:20

be injuries or whether it be poor play

40:22

was terrible, right? They couldn't block for Aaron

40:24

Rodgers and they were probably the worst rush

40:26

attack offensive line in the national football league.

40:28

So, you know, they addressed the left tackle

40:30

position last year in the NFL draft and

40:32

they, they love their kid out of Penn

40:34

State and the Foshnu. Now, when you look,

40:36

when you add Armand Membu out of Missouri,

40:38

they They believe he's a plug -in playwright

40:40

tackle. They think that he's got an attitude.

40:42

If you listen, you know, I think it

40:44

was really kind of Aaron Glenn's pick more

40:46

than Darren Moujee. When you look at their

40:48

number one overall pick, they want to win

40:50

in the trenches. They want to win up

40:52

front. They're going to be

40:54

extremely well coached. The Jets were poorly coached

40:56

under head coach Robert Salah and then interim

40:59

head coach Jeff Ulbricht. So I think Glenn

41:01

learned from guys like Bill Parcells and, um,

41:03

and obviously Dan Campbell outgrow from his experience

41:05

as a player, a scout area scout, national

41:07

scout. defensive coordinator now head coach of the

41:09

Jets gets it wants to kind of build

41:11

this team up front right and knows that

41:13

he needs his quarterback we'll see what fields

41:16

ends up being but not surprised that they

41:18

went with a bamboo not surprised that they

41:20

passed on Tyler Warren and I thought maybe

41:22

potentially if they fell in love with an

41:24

edge rusher they could have gotten that route

41:26

But love the fact of, of what they

41:28

did, especially with their two picks, you're throwing

41:30

Mason Taylor, the tight end at LSU. They

41:33

were looking for a playmaking tight end. They

41:35

addressed the cornerback spot with, you know, draft

41:37

in the Florida state kid in the third

41:39

round, like I like where this jet team

41:41

is going, but with their first overall, with

41:43

the seventh overall pick, the offensive line was

41:45

Kate. They believe they have their book and

41:47

left tackles for the next 10 to 12

41:49

years. You know, we were on the air

41:52

on Thursday night watching the draft focusing on

41:54

that. And we had TVs, you know, in

41:56

the top corner, keeping an eye on what

41:58

the Knicks were doing. And every time we

42:00

looked up, it was kind of a back

42:02

and forth. Like, Oh my God, what's happening

42:04

here? So the Knicks pull it out as

42:06

a one and a half point favorite mark

42:09

on Thursday night, one 18, one 16. And

42:11

tomorrow there are two point dog at Detroit.

42:13

They this series 2 -1. It was funny.

42:15

I talked about to open the show. It's

42:17

kind of that zigzag revenge, right? All the

42:19

teams down 0 -2 yesterday won in both the

42:21

NHL and the NBA. And if you want

42:23

to throw in the Timberwolves as well at

42:25

home, we're getting that game three victory. So

42:28

the Knicks were able to grab game three.

42:30

What do you expect tomorrow in Detroit with

42:32

the Knicks being a slight two point dog

42:34

against this Detroit squad? Yeah,

42:36

I think the pistons are going to bounce

42:38

back, you know, to that zigzag theory. I would

42:40

not be surprised. Listen, Detroit plays with no

42:42

fear. Here's the one thing you look at the

42:44

pistons. Number one, you know, the two games

42:46

they've lost in this series, they allowed a 21

42:48

0 run fourth quarter in game one and

42:50

game three. They allowed a 21 three run in

42:52

the second quarter, which they allow the Knicks

42:54

to have what, a 13 point lead at the

42:56

half. They're going to be

42:58

better on the glass. The Knicks were

43:01

able to, they weren't minus 14, like

43:03

they were in game two. I think. Detroit

43:05

was plus four in game three. The

43:08

Knicks did a better job facilitating getting

43:10

everyone involved. Carl Anthony Towns, you looked at

43:12

it for players with 20 or more

43:14

points in the game. That was an issue.

43:16

But this piston seemed had success against

43:18

the Knicks in the regular season. They won

43:20

three or four. I like the Knicks

43:22

in six games. Tim before I don't think

43:24

they're losing this series. And I never

43:26

got a sense in the fourth quarter, even

43:29

though it got a little weird late.

43:31

And the Knicks were ever going to lose

43:33

that game on Thursday night. They've had

43:35

a little bit of an extra day to

43:37

rest. They've made some adjustments here. Um,

43:39

I th game where that can go either

43:41

w half. I think Detroit bounce it

43:43

up and make it a two o back

43:45

to Madison Square g Tim,

43:56
