2:05

2:07

podcast series, Dub Dynasty. We hear

2:09

from head coach Steve Kerr

2:11

on how Steph Curry almost never

2:13

even joined the Warriors. In

2:15

fact, I thought we had a

2:17

draft -aid deal to end up getting

2:19

him to Phoenix. For the entire behind

2:21

-the -scenes story of Golden State's incredible

2:23

10 -year run, listen to Dub Dynasty

2:25

on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

2:27

or wherever you get your podcast. What's

2:37

up? It's way up in the Angelique. I'm here.

2:39

Jasmine Brand is here. And

2:41

the guy is in the building. Wiz Khalifa's

2:43

here. What's up, Wiz? I

2:45

was telling you the one time that I smoked

2:47

and couldn't feel my legs. It was your fault. Yeah.

2:49

And now you're scared of weed. Oh, no,

2:51

I'm not. I still do it again. It wasn't a

2:53

bad experience. You're more of a kind of edible. I

2:56

do enjoy edibles. Edibles are cool. And you

2:58

know what? A lot of people who smoke a

3:00

lot aren't that big on edibles. Like, you

3:02

know what I'm saying? Yeah. They're a

3:04

little stronger. I like giving people

3:06

weed for the first time. Yeah,

3:09

well Yeah, I'm a good person.

3:11

You couldn't feel your what was it like a

3:14

do you remember if it was like a

3:16

satire? Actually, it was two times that was

3:18

did this to me There was one time

3:20

that actually went viral because it was at

3:22

um powerhouse. Yeah, and I smoked I didn't

3:24

know what was going on after that. Yeah

3:26

I don't know

3:28

what happened. I took like a probably only took two

3:30

pulls. That's how strong it is Oh my goodness,

3:32

but that's a good thing, right? You don't want to

3:34

have to like do too much nice. It's a

3:36

little bit keep it moving you

3:38

can always tap back in if you want

3:41

some more. How do you feel seeing so

3:43

many people come out with strains but really you're

3:45

a person that somebody should trust because you

3:47

do this but then you see people who don't

3:49

even really like smoke and you know and

3:51

then they're like oh I got a cannabis strain.

3:53

Yeah a lot of people got into

3:55

it like just for the money,

3:57

because they see the business behind it.

4:00

But you really gotta get out in

4:02

front of that business. You have to

4:04

do Zoom calls and meet with the

4:06

dispensaries and go do meet and greets

4:08

and really, really put in the legwork

4:10

for your brand to work. And

4:12

that's the difference between... success of our

4:14

brand and the other ones is I didn't

4:16

just put my name on it and

4:18

I'm out here working. You were doing that shit

4:20

when it was illegal, you know what I'm saying? I'm

4:23

gonna be doing it. Burner too,

4:25

he put me up on game, but

4:28

that's really who showed me how to

4:30

really put it down in the weed

4:32

game. So that's why we're at where

4:34

we're at with it. Is the

4:36

weed game for you, has it been more

4:38

lucrative than music? No, not at all.

4:40

Okay. I make a

4:42

lot of money off shows, my music. And

4:45

merch too. Yeah, and merch and things

4:47

like that. So it's not just actual

4:49

streams or anything like that. We do

4:51

pretty good on music. But the weed,

4:53

it's been something that

4:56

the branding and just expanding all over the

4:58

world, not even just here in America,

5:00

we're in Germany, we're in Thailand. So

5:02

it's setting stuff up for the next

5:05

10, 20 years that we might not even

5:07

be able to touch right now. And you

5:09

have the rolling papers too. Rolling papers are

5:11

important. So talk about that, because it felt like

5:13

it took you a while to get it the way you wanted

5:15

it to be. Yeah, absolutely. I wanted to do a

5:17

good product. I wanted

5:19

to do something that I don't have to go

5:21

back and redo over and over again. And

5:23

like I said, I'm really like into, well,

5:25

you guys know that. If

5:28

I'm gonna put it out there, I

5:30

gotta really love it. So, you know,

5:32

it took a second, but we're there.

5:34

Paper seems so hard to roll. No,

5:36

they're easy. Okay. He chess me. He

5:38

got it right. They're so thin and

5:41

frat like it's like almost like Bible papers. Like

5:43

it's just so fragile. I just got put

5:45

more weed in there. Okay. You got it

5:47

girl. And you have

5:49

a shrooms coming out too, right?

5:51

Talk to me about the psychedelics and

5:53

so what's the plan with that? Just

5:56

as the laws change, right

5:58

now they're not like full on

6:00

psychedelic shrooms. They're like the ones that

6:02

you can grow on your own. They're

6:04

legal. So they don't have like the

6:06

kick in there. But as the laws

6:09

change, then you'll be able to grow

6:11

the psychedelics as well through the same

6:13

brand. It's so confusing with the laws. Like

6:15

they roll this back, then they do

6:17

this. I'm like, I don't know. So

6:19

our producer got married and made her

6:21

butt shrooms to the wedding. And when

6:23

I tell you he was... and out

6:25

after that, but we had a good time. did

6:27

have a little bit. I'm a

6:30

micro doser, so I'm

6:32

always cautious. I never want to do

6:34

too much. Yeah, nah, just a little bit. I feel

6:36

like if you do a little bit, you can

6:38

always go back and do more. Right,

6:41

exactly. And take your time because sometimes

6:43

it don't kick in right away. And

6:45

so you take it and you're like, I don't feel nothing. I've

6:47

tried it a few times with you. I never feel anything. And

6:49

I'm okay with that. But it means I haven't done enough, I'm

6:51

sure. Yeah, you'll get there. And I

6:53

feel like people were so judgmental about it previously. And

6:56

now it's like everybody's like, oh yeah, I'm doing

6:58

this. Yeah, it's like the thing to do. You

7:00

go to parties and people are just eating little

7:02

gummies or little chocolates. And that's

7:04

how people wind down now. A lot

7:06

of people aren't drinking as much alcohol. They

7:08

kind of just want to do something

7:10

that's chill but still social. And shrooms and

7:12

edibles and things like that, they're becoming.

7:14

safer for that. You said you only drink once

7:16

a month now. I tried it. I

7:19

was at Coachella for a couple

7:21

days. Yeah

7:23

once a month would be like a whole

7:25

week that month. How is

7:27

Coachella? Talk to us about that because it looked like

7:29

he was having a time he was on everybody's

7:31

feet. I had a good time. I

7:34

was out there to enjoy myself

7:36

and work. Juicy and Three

7:38

Six Mafia brought me out and then Ty

7:40

brought me out on Sunday. So

7:42

I probably wouldn't have been up there if it

7:44

wasn't for them. I don't just go party or anything

7:47

like that. But I was there so

7:49

I had a good time. Yeah. You said you

7:51

hadn't been there in years. Six years. Oh,

7:53

wow. Six years. I've never been to

7:55

Coachella. For real? Yeah. It's hot. It's

7:57

dusty. It's dirty. The

7:59

security guards, they're overdoing it.

8:01

Not all of them, because a lot

8:03

of them looked out and held out.

8:05

Not the ones helping me, but the rest of them. The rest

8:07

of them. They'll be doing a lot. They'll be

8:09

doing a lot. So it's too much for

8:11

me. I get overstimulated now. So if I'm

8:14

not at work, I really don't. like dealing

8:16

with all of that stuff. But it was

8:18

a good time. And that's a fun time to be

8:20

that you had your lady with you. Yeah, yeah.

8:22

That's fun to be able to have somebody that could

8:24

rock with you like that. That's not going to

8:26

be like, where is he at? I'm ready to go.

8:28

She look like she having more fun than you

8:30

sometimes. So we got to, like, I'm

8:32

going to. lively person, especially

8:34

when I'm enjoying myself. So

8:36

if I'm there to hear some music, I'm

8:39

not just going to be standing there acting bougie.

8:41

I'm to be enjoying myself.

8:44

And people got to understand how long you've

8:46

been in this game. I think yesterday was

8:48

the 15 -year anniversary.

8:51

you know, for Kush and OJ. When I

8:53

tell you that is something that to this

8:55

day, I saw people, I think Double XL

8:57

might have posted it. And I saw everybody

8:59

was talking about what their favorite songs were

9:01

on there and how that still slaps like

9:03

even today. Yeah, yeah. I'm really

9:05

appreciative of that because a lot of people

9:07

have really good memories of that. And

9:09

that's why I'm happy to be able to, you know,

9:11

still do what I do is because it just

9:13

makes people feel good. What's the pressure

9:15

of doing a part two then I don't

9:17

have no

9:19

pressure Yeah,

9:22

I know what people expect from me and

9:24

I'm not I'm not scared to deliver that

9:26

You know, and that's what I really want

9:29

to deliver. Like I said, I want to

9:31

make those moments you know, stand

9:33

out again in people's lives. You've been

9:35

doing some amazing freestyles, too. you. And

9:37

people are like, he's bringing back like the

9:39

essence of that mixtape era. You know

9:41

what else I read? That that mixtape was

9:43

the first mixtape to ever trend on

9:45

Twitter. Yeah, it was. That's wild. You

9:47

know how crazy that is to be able to

9:49

have that, like... Yeah, be like one

9:52

of the first trending rappers. Because

9:54

we don't even think about,

9:56

you know, how that is. No,

9:59

I mean, for me... was utilizing

10:01

social media, I still do, but

10:03

it was new for an artist to

10:05

utilize social media to like boost

10:07

their career. And a lot

10:09

of the artists who were already on at that

10:11

time, they didn't see the relevance in that.

10:13

So they were kind of like shying away from

10:15

it. But when I came into the game,

10:17

it became like, yo, you need this, you need

10:19

that. You got to have this account. You got to

10:21

have that. Right. And, um, yeah, it

10:24

kind of just molded that and shaped it and

10:26

showed what you can do based off of that.

10:28

So I'm really happy to have, like, you know,

10:30

been a pioneer in busting that door down.

10:32

Well, we got a little preview of the

10:34

new project. Yeah. It's tax It's tax season

11:35

up fam, I just got back from

11:37

a really special trip. I visited a

11:39

hospital in Memphis for an ambassador trip

11:42

after our incredible Radio Thon. And let

11:44

me tell you, meeting those brief. I

11:50

knew it would be a really emotional trip.

11:52

So I wanted to make sure the place I

11:54

was staying at would be a comfortable, peaceful,

11:56

zen -like space where I could process everything at

11:58

the end of the day. I found

12:00

this amazing Airbnb that became my

12:02

sanctuary after those hospital visits. The

12:05

floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom gave

12:07

me the perfect view. And the host had

12:10

a gift basket for me with all local

12:12

vendors. That's one of the reasons

12:14

I love being an Airbnb host because

12:16

you get to provide a sanctuary for your

12:18

guests. When I'm away from my ambassador

12:20

trips, I host a home on Airbnb

12:24

reviews. Y 'all, I have a 4 .9. I

12:26

love making people's vacations comfortable. And of

12:28

course, it's also nice to make some extra

12:30

cash. And if you have a busy schedule

12:32

15:38

it's an album. Yeah, it's an album. All

15:40

right, let's be clear. We are putting this on. No,

15:43

it's a real album. I

15:45

want to say, what's happening? Manon

15:48

wants to walk out to that at his wedding. That's

15:50

hard, man. He said it today, yeah. a

15:52

vibe. It's smooth, right? Yeah, it is. I

15:54

like it, because it just feels, the music feels

15:56

good. We were in here without no weed,

15:59

like we were smoking. Yeah, we were here. It

16:01

makes me also kind of want to smoke,

16:03

also want to clean my house. But it's soulful,

16:05

too. It's very soulful. It makes me want

16:07

to, like. It's all of those things. I just

16:09

ride around, top down,

16:11

windows open, it makes you

16:13

want to get dressed, it makes you want to

16:15

do all of that stuff. Maybe lay on

16:17

the rooftop, just chill somewhere. Bosh

16:20

your whole life up. But it goes so

16:22

well with you, because I feel like there's so

16:24

many people who can be like Emicky or

16:26

trying to create a sound, but you just really

16:28

enjoy. Yeah, and I'm talking about

16:30

all the things that are real. I'm

16:32

not really reaching, and I respect everybody

16:34

who's, you know, producing and making music

16:36

now, but I wasn't trying to like

16:38

fit in with anything that's going on.

16:40

And I digest all the music that's

16:43

going on now, but that wasn't my

16:45

goal to try to make anything that

16:47

sounds like what's going on now is

16:49

I wanted it to sound like what

16:51

I do. And yeah, I

16:53

kept it authentic and I kept it original.

16:55

It feels good. Thank you. And I want

16:57

to ask you, did you decide to do

16:59

this as a part two in celebration of

17:01

the 15 year anniversary or was it just

17:03

happened that way? It just happened that way.

17:06

I started working on it around this time

17:08

last year. And it took me

17:10

about the same amount of time to create

17:12

the first one as well. So by the

17:14

time I was done, it just landed at

17:16

this time. And you named it after the

17:18

entire project was done? No, I knew it

17:20

was going to be that walking into it.

17:23

Because I knew just me wanting to

17:25

release a full. Project there would be

17:27

nothing more exciting than doing cushion orange

17:29

juice, too Like I could come try

17:31

to come up with a whole new

17:33

concept and people wouldn't gravitate towards it

17:36

as much as they would cushion orange

17:38

juice, too So I'm like I might

17:40

as well do what people you know

17:42

what they want Think about the different

17:44

mindset you're in now that you were

17:46

back then too sure it's a whole

17:48

different way today But some things are

17:50

still the same. Yeah, like what the

17:52

majority what different or same you're still

17:54

chill. Yeah, I'm still chill What

17:56

else? Let's see. But you do have

17:58

an eight pack now, so that's a good

18:01

Yeah, yeah. I'm big wiz now. That

18:03

working out, what does that do for you?

18:05

Because it feels like something for you that is

18:08

like, I remember when you were on the

18:10

road and you had to have your equipment with

18:12

you to be able to work out. And

18:14

then this whole like, you know, even just

18:16

working with this, the fighting league that you're working,

18:18

it's like an MMA. Yeah, PFL,

18:21

that's perfect for you. But what does

18:23

that do for you? Just like the balance

18:25

of. of being able to do what

18:27

you want to do, but then also being

18:29

able to work out all the time

18:31

and maintain your physique. It's something that challenges

18:33

me, and that's something that I need. Doing

18:36

music, I love it, but it's not

18:38

always challenging. And

18:40

working out and doing yoga and stuff

18:42

like that, I learned stuff about

18:44

myself. that I apply to my

18:46

life every day, and it really just helps

18:48

me mentally and helps me deal with people,

18:50

and it gives me something to offer as

18:52

well, so that's why I stick with it.

18:55

You meditate as well? Yeah, yeah. It's all

18:57

meditation when you look at it, but you

18:59

know, we do yoga, we

19:01

do like guided meditation and breath work and sound

19:03

bowls and all of that stuff. How do you

19:05

calm your mind? You know that's the biggest complaint

19:07

everyone is like, I can't meditate because I can't

19:10

clear my mind. You gotta breathe, you gotta focus

19:12

on your breath, you gotta take one breath at

19:14

a time. You gotta set a goal of maybe

19:16

five deep breaths, and by the time you get

19:18

to three, you'll be in control. Look

19:21

at all these lessons. No, for sure, come on,

19:23

do it. think that's amazing. Yeah, I really

19:25

do this. But

19:27

when you were saying that it helps you

19:29

learn how to deal with other things, give

19:31

me some examples of how working out this

19:33

meditation helps you in real life when it

19:35

comes to dealing with people. And this business,

19:37

because this business is a tough one, it

19:39

brings people down. Yeah, you can get wound

19:41

up really tight. And you could also start

19:44

to focus on a lot of things that

19:46

you can't control. And I

19:48

think through these practices, it helps me just

19:50

focus on what I can control right there

19:52

in the moment. And

19:54

it helps me be happy

19:56

without trying to feel validated

19:58

through other things. I give

20:01

validation through. the feeling that

20:03

I get from my yoga. So I'm

20:05

not really trying to impress nobody. I'm

20:07

not trying to do. If I come up

20:09

with an idea, it's because I love it.

20:11

It's not for a reaction or anything

20:13

like that. And I'm able to create from

20:15

a way better space like that than thinking,

20:17

you know, what's going to, you know, be

20:19

the next big thing or whatever. Cause we're

20:21

all looking for that. We want that, whether

20:24

it's in a career or personally or

20:26

whatever. But a lot of

20:28

the times it's coming, it's on the

20:30

way. So it just helps me

20:32

fall back and accept all of these

20:34

things. You seem super grounded, clearly,

20:36

but do you ever feel insecure about

20:38

anything? Is there anything that you

20:40

are ever, I feel like you're always

20:42

at a, you know. People

20:46

like behind the mask. No, no.

20:49

I'm always confident, I'm always

20:51

like. Looking on the bright side

20:53

like I could see the beauty and

20:55

everything like even if something does happen You

20:57

know I see a purpose or a

21:00

reason for it And I see a way

21:02

out of it a way for me

21:04

to you know either enjoy it or learn

21:06

from it and that comes from experience

21:08

But that also is a choice and like

21:10

I know that you know life's not

21:12

gonna be easy or it's not gonna be

21:14

every day is not a party, but

21:16

you have to enjoy each moment the same

21:18

way. So you take the good with

21:20

the bad and that's where your real character

21:22

comes from. People need to listen to

21:24

this, because another thing about you, you're a

21:26

great co -parent. And you've been that. And

21:28

that's not easy for a lot of

21:30

people. What tips would you give people

21:32

out there if they're like going through it

21:34

and they can't get along and, you know, back

21:37

and forth? But there is a child involved

21:39

and you gotta make sure that you're good for

21:41

that. What would you tell people out there

21:43

who are listening that are like, oh, I can't

21:45

stand my baby mom or I can't stand

21:47

my baby daddy? Fuck my baby daddy. Fuck my

21:49

baby daddy. I mean, everybody's situation is different,

21:51

so it's not easy. but the way that it

21:53

starts isn't how it's gotta finish. So

21:56

if you start out fucked up and arguing

21:58

and shit like that, then at least try

22:00

to, you know, don't keep that shit going

22:02

forever. Try to work through. Yeah,

22:04

get it out, work through that, understand

22:06

your place in that and how much control

22:08

you have, and work on the

22:10

things that you can be better. And hopefully you

22:12

have a partner who grows and matures, and

22:15

a lot of it has to just do with

22:17

time and growth. So hopefully you can grow and mature

22:19

and get to that point. Yeah, that's

22:21

my advice. Yeah. And for young Bash, it

22:23

looks like maybe he might want to be

22:25

a rapper. I don't know,

22:27

man. That dude's crazy. Where

22:29

you see him rapping at? I

22:31

just feel like when I see him with

22:33

you me and it just looks like

22:35

maybe he's you know He's got a big

22:37

personality. Yeah, he's definitely an individual I

22:40

wonder where he gets it. Yeah, not for

22:42

real I'm using things that he does

22:44

when he's with you all the time that

22:46

you like this my kid right here

22:48

Yeah, it's crazy every time you put a

22:50

camera on him. He's like I'm

22:53

like, where you learn that shit from? So

22:57

shit like that that I did never even pass

22:59

down to him. That's what be throwing me off.

23:01

That's hilarious. Yeah, yeah. And I saw recently this

23:03

was in the news that you sold your place

23:05

in Pittsburgh. Yeah, I did. OK, so are you

23:07

going to get another place? That's got to feel

23:09

because that was like a house that you have

23:11

for a long time. And

23:14

so what was behind you saying, are you

23:16

just never there? I just

23:18

had a daughter. I don't know if y 'all know that. She's

23:21

eight months, but I haven't like

23:23

shown her to the world or shown

23:25

the world her yeah But yeah,

23:27

cuz I just you know, I want

23:29

to keep some stuff to myself

23:31

from older now I feel like as

23:33

soon as bash was born like

23:35

everybody seen bad so So it's like,

23:37

you know, I could I'm like

23:39

that's another thing that I wanted to

23:41

show that we can control as

23:43

well You don't have to give everybody

23:45

everything so Just

23:48

know how twisted the world is.

23:50

It's like you guys will get

23:52

her when I'm ready to give

23:54

y 'all her but um my

23:56

mother Wanted to move out to

23:58

LA like as soon as I

24:00

had my daughter. She was like

24:02

to help. She just wanted to

24:04

help. Yeah I'm done being so

24:06

far away like I want to

24:08

I want to see my grandbaby

24:10

like How is having a girl

24:12

different? Um, then haven't because people

24:14

always say when men have daughters

24:16

Yeah, it changes something in you

24:18

I don't think it changed a

24:20

lot, like that. I think as

24:22

she grows. Just eight months, nine

24:24

years. Yeah, I think she starts to

24:26

get more personality and stuff. She already has

24:29

one, but I think just having a

24:31

newborn in general will make me soft. And

24:33

she's my baby girl, so it's like,

24:35

I got the double up. Has

24:38

bash with her. He's really good.

24:40

He's like, you know, big brother, super

24:42

protective, but he loves the responsibility.

24:44

He's never been like the... type of

24:46

kid where he thinks you love

24:48

one more than the other. He's so

24:50

loved. He's good. Yeah, he's good

24:52

to go. He's good to go.

24:54

That's so nice. Do you see yourself having

24:57

a big wedding again? I

24:59

didn't before, but the older

25:01

that I get, I'd be like, it

25:03

would be cool. Yeah, I

25:05

like weddings. You like a party.

25:07

Yeah. Yeah, I like

25:09

weddings. I like a party. Yeah, it

25:12

would be cool. I don't mind sharing

25:14

my last name again. Okay.

25:17

It feels like it's something you've been discussing

25:19

and thinking about. Oh, okay. Sorry,

25:21

my bad. It's the first time I said

25:23

that. She's

25:26

gonna love this. Yeah. That's a nice

25:28

mirror. He's like, let's move on from that.

25:31

But, you know, and even if you think about,

25:34

like, I imagine you being with somebody

25:36

and you talk about this on the new album, you

25:38

know, you couldn't be with nobody that chips off of

25:40

other girls and you definitely can't be with nobody that

25:42

don't smoke also. Right. Right. So

25:44

those are two things that are

25:46

must -haves for you. Yeah, I

25:48

mean, it's like a confidence type

25:50

of thing when it comes to

25:52

other women because I just understand

25:54

what I do and what that

25:56

brings, but I also understand that

25:58

if my partner is... powerful person

26:01

too, even if they look a

26:03

certain way and they dress a

26:05

certain way, I have to be

26:07

comfortable with that as well. So

26:09

it's really just reciprocating the same

26:11

type of energy. Like I'm not

26:13

gonna, excuse me, run or ruin

26:15

your life or your fun or anything like

26:17

that. You could dress, you could be

26:19

sexy, you can go out, but

26:22

when I'm doing what I'm doing and I'm

26:24

on stage and my shirt is off or

26:26

if there's 10 girls screaming my name, you

26:28

gotta know what to do with that. And it's

26:30

not to say like, You know

26:32

just just some people who they

26:34

know they can't deal with that

26:36

They're like I love you to

26:39

death, but I'm not gonna sit

26:41

there while she's smiling your face

26:43

like that Oh, I'm doing all

26:45

that But if she wanted to

26:47

cherry in her mouth from another

26:49

nigga, I gotta be cool with

26:51

that too I'm confident cuz I'm

26:54

really one of them. So it's

26:56

like I get your cherry, but

26:58

she ain't gonna want that Can

27:01

you imagine? You gotta know you with. You

27:03

can't be with a girl and not know

27:06

she wanted that cherry the whole time. Y

27:08

'all gotta have that understanding. You can't be

27:10

finding out that night. That's what breaks

27:12

up relationships. is. This is a surprise. I've never seen

27:14

you do no crazy things like that. You never

27:16

did it with me. I don't know. You could tie

27:18

the stem with your tongue. OK. Tell

27:20

me. Where'd that

27:22

come from? Jasmine, how would you feel dating somebody

27:24

and they had girls screaming? You can handle that,

27:26

you think? I don't know. No, I just pay

27:29

way up fam. I just got back

27:31

from a really special trip. I visited a

27:33

hospital in Memphis for an ambassador trip

27:35

after our incredible radio thon and let me

27:37

tell you meeting those brave kids and

27:39

their families and hearing their stories. It just

27:41

hits different. I knew it would be

27:43

a really emotional trip. So I wanted to

27:46

make sure the place I was staying

27:48

at would be a comfortable, peaceful, zen -like

27:50

space where I could process everything at the

27:52

end of the day. I found this

27:54

amazing Airbnb that became my sanctuary after those

27:56

hospital visits. The floor -to -ceiling

27:58

windows in the bedroom gave me the

28:00

perfect view. And the host had a gift

28:02

basket for me with all local vendors. That's

28:05

one of the reasons I love being

28:07

an Airbnb host, because you get to provide

28:09

a sanctuary for your guests. When I'm

28:11

away from my ambassador chips, I host a

28:14

home on Airbnb. and I've been getting

28:16

so many great reviews. Y 'all, I have

28:18

a 4 .9. I love making people's vacations

28:20

comfortable. And of course, it's also nice

28:22

to make some extra cash. And if you

28:24

have a busy schedule like me, you might be

28:26

wondering, how am I supposed to manage all

28:28

that? Well, Airbnb has a brilliant

28:31

co -host feature that connects you with

28:33

high quality local co -hosts who can

28:35

handle all the hosting details for

28:37

you. Whether you're traveling for work, volunteering,

28:39

or just need a getaway, your

28:41

space could be working for you. Find

28:44

very extra way of saying, a

30:41

podcast. We're launching

30:43

this season with a mini

30:45

series totally nostalgic, a

30:48

four part series about the Latinos

30:50

who shaped pop culture in the

30:52

early 2000s. It's Lala

30:54

checking in with all things Y2K,

30:56

2000s. My favorite memory, honestly, was

30:58

us having our own media platforms

31:00

like Mondos and MTV3. You could

31:02

turn on the TV, you see

31:05

Talia, you see J -Lo, Nina Sky,

31:07

Evie Queen, all the girlies doing

31:09

their things. All of the beauty

31:12

reflected right back at us. It

31:14

was everything. Tune in to Locathora

31:16

Radio Season 10. Now that's what

31:18

I call a podcast. Listen

31:20

to Locathora Radio Season 10

31:22

on the iHeart Radio app, Apple

31:24

Podcasts, or wherever you get

31:26

your podcasts. In

31:28

1978, Roger Caron's first book

31:30

was published and he was unlike

31:33

any first -time author Canada had

31:35

ever seen. Roger Caron was

31:37

16 when first convicted. He spent

31:39

24 of those years in

31:41

jail. 12 years in solitary. He

31:43

went from an ex -con to

31:46

a literary darling almost overnight. He

31:48

was instantly a celebrity. He

31:50

was an adrenaline junkie and he

31:53

was the star of the

31:55

show. Go -Boy is the

31:57

gritty true story of how one man

31:59

fought his way out of some of

32:01

the darkest places imaginable. I had a

32:03

knife in my stomach, punctured my screen,

32:05

break my ribs, I had my guts

32:07

all in my hands. Only to find

32:09

himself back where he started. Roger's saying

32:12

is I've never hurt anybody but myself

32:14

and I said, oh you're so wrong.

32:16

You're so wrong on that one wrong. From

32:20

Campside Media and I Heart Podcasts,

32:22

listen to Go Boy on the

32:24

I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

32:26

or wherever you get your podcasts.

32:40

Cuz the thing this gets tricky when

32:42

the the girls get disrespectful. They're

32:44

gonna be disrespectful. Yeah, yeah, we need

32:47

to go ahead and get that

32:49

out the way I don't know about

32:51

that. I know. But they're going to do it on

32:53

us. They're going to be like, oh my god, you're so

32:55

pretty. Yeah. That's the shit that going

32:57

to irritate. I'm like, did you

32:59

score? Did you grab my nigga's dick? Like, now

33:01

we got a problem. Exactly. Exactly.

33:03

Just like that. In that order. Can she check a

33:05

girl if a girl grabbed her dick? Can she

33:07

do that then? Or she got to chill out still.

33:09

Yeah, she could check a girl. I'll probably check

33:11

her too. I'll be like, slow down, sweetheart. We

33:14

ain't doing all that. Hands off

33:16

the merchandise. Okay, or what if

33:18

like a girl's like, oh, can you just, you know,

33:20

blow some in my face so I could, that's okay

33:23

too? What do they call that? A shotgun. That's

33:25

fine. There's like a respect level

33:27

to it. If anything, if we're together,

33:29

I'll let her do it. Okay. I'll be

33:31

like, I ask her. So mature. And

33:33

you okay with your girl, like, with other

33:35

girls? Yeah. Yeah,

33:37

for sure. She's not really like that, but

33:39

like, girls like to entertain, and y 'all like

33:42

to do what y 'all do, so it's

33:44

like, have a good time. Now you're about

33:46

to go on tour also. Yeah, yup. Taylor

33:48

Gang. So who's gonna be on the tour?

33:50

Me, Chevy, and Fett, and then we got

33:52

a bunch of special guests coming. Nice. Oh,

33:54

it's secretive. I would assume

33:56

people from the album. Yeah, absolutely.

33:58

For sure, Currency. Yeah, definitely,

34:00

definitely. Okay, who else?

34:05

He's like, what's a nice beer? You gotta

34:07

ride along for the whole tour. That

34:10

could be. What

34:14

else is on your list of things

34:16

to do? Because it feels like you

34:18

just, you know, living your dream. Everything

34:20

that you're involved with, with the PFL,

34:22

with the Fighting League, with,

34:25

you know, having your KK. Also,

34:28

obviously the music, obviously the merch,

34:30

the rolling papers, everything that you

34:32

have. What else is on the

34:34

list of things that Wiz Khalifa

34:36

is like, I still want to

34:38

accomplish? Mmm, accomplish it. I

34:41

just honestly I take it like day

34:43

by day like right now I'm focused on

34:46

the music and really entertaining my fans

34:48

but you know there could be a time

34:50

where I just need a little bit

34:52

of time to myself I might want to

34:54

go to Thailand for a few months

34:56

I might want to act I might want

34:58

to learn an instrument acting I mean

35:00

you've done that already but so I'm just

35:02

taking it like one thing at a

35:04

time My album

35:06

cushion oranges is the most important thing to

35:08

me. He's like the back to the

35:10

album Yeah, the

35:12

most important thing like for real.

35:14

It's really like what my heart is

35:17

sad on right now It's what

35:19

all my intention is is going towards

35:21

and there's gonna be some fun

35:23

cookout stuff for me And it's gonna

35:25

last for longer than just for

35:27

20 right people's gonna associate it with

35:30

the the day that they got

35:32

stoned as fuck. But it's gonna

35:34

last throughout the summer. It's when you

35:36

come to the tour, when you have a

35:38

day off, when you go on vacation,

35:40

and then next year, when the festivals start

35:42

back up again, it's just really gonna

35:44

become a theme and a soundtrack to a

35:46

lot of people's lives. So I'm putting

35:48

all my energy into that. And you've also

35:50

been rolling it out like a real

35:52

single came out at the end of last

35:54

year, then another single. I feel like

35:56

people aren't doing that as much as they

35:58

used to. whole plan and a promo

36:00

and a rollout. Right. That was the goal.

36:02

I wanted to extend the experience because

36:04

if I would have just went like, you

36:07

know, track list single album, then it

36:09

would have been forgotten already. But we're still

36:11

talking about it and people are still

36:13

excited for it. And it's going to set

36:15

up for the next couple of things

36:17

that we have come in or if we

36:19

want to do anything. So it's really

36:22

important to like. make sure it hits

36:24

how it's supposed to. And you also have

36:26

a Max B interlude on there. Talk to

36:28

me about that. Max

36:30

B was one of my most iconic early on

36:32

lip service episodes when I was that serious. He

36:34

was wild, but he's a good time. But

36:36

talk to us about that interlude and how

36:39

that even transpires. Just being a big fan

36:41

of Max, he's super,

36:43

you know, yeah, he is waving. He's

36:45

important to my era of mixtapes before

36:47

I was making mixtapes that people listen

36:49

to he's who I would listen to

36:51

like just go get all his mixtapes

36:53

or I just followed his you know

36:55

trajectory of what he was doing and

36:58

it just made sense and it resonated

37:00

with me and then you know just

37:02

coming up in my career I always

37:04

showed him love I always you know

37:06

let people know how much he was

37:08

an inspiration to me and my whole

37:10

fan base too so that's what it's

37:12

really about is just you know entertaining

37:14

our fans and his fans at the

37:16

same time and just giving people that

37:19

feeling they need. As somebody who's also

37:21

been really big independently, but also big

37:23

as a signed artist, can you talk

37:25

to me about the pros and cons

37:27

of each? Because I always hear people

37:29

downing both sides of it. Like somebody

37:31

who's independent will be like, you

37:33

know, oh, why is that person signed? But

37:35

somebody who's signed will be like, oh, independent

37:37

is not the way to go. Can you

37:39

talk to us about the pros and cons

37:41

of both? Yeah, so independent, you have to

37:43

work a lot harder. You

37:46

don't have as much like, you

37:48

know, just people. Working for you.

37:50

Where is their job? You gotta

37:52

hire people. Yeah, you gotta spend

37:54

your own money You're in competition

37:56

with people who are spending, you

37:58

know millions of dollars and you're

38:00

just depending on your fans so

38:02

You know, it's a lot when

38:04

you when that's what you're up

38:06

against and you're and you're trying

38:08

to get to that level It's I

38:11

don't think it's more stressful because when you're signed,

38:13

you have a lot of stresses as well. Yeah. Why

38:15

ain't they doing what they're supposed to do? Yeah,

38:17

yeah, yeah. And then you got to go over the

38:19

dates with them and approvals. I was about to

38:21

say. But you have more creativity when you're independent. Yeah,

38:23

you have more freedom when you're independent. You can

38:25

drop whenever you want to. But having

38:27

a label structure, there is a lot of...

38:29

to go with that. You know what

38:31

I mean? Especially when you're the type of

38:34

artist who can make those types of

38:36

songs on that level. When you have a

38:38

label behind you, it helps a lot.

38:40

But there's more freedom, of course, being independent,

38:42

but you're just gonna have to work

38:44

way harder. What works better for you, you

38:46

think? I think,

38:48

for me, it works being able to

38:50

go in between both. Like, if I could,

38:52

know. Could you can structure a deal

38:54

how you want it? Yeah, you can structure

38:56

it for how you want, however long

38:58

you want, if it's one album or, you

39:00

know, however many albums, you don't have

39:02

to just sign because, especially with me, because

39:04

I have leverage. I've done this before,

39:06

so I could just chill for a minute.

39:08

I could drop four independent projects and

39:10

be like, okay, I want to do this

39:12

fifth one on a major. Right. And

39:15

it'll work. be perfectly fine. So

39:17

I think that's the best thing for me

39:19

is just gauging what is more for

39:21

my fans and what I want to do

39:23

on this level where it's a rollout

39:25

and it's a plan. Do you like being

39:27

a label boss too? I do. Okay.

39:29

Some people feel like that's just if there's

39:31

a lot of artists that are like,

39:34

now they're coming to you and you can

39:36

sometimes be the bad guy. Yeah. I

39:38

mean, I think the good thing about the

39:40

industry or just the game in general

39:42

is like artists are self -sufficient. So we

39:44

don't really have to do too much for

39:46

them to succeed. And if I

39:48

can, you know, see you as somebody with

39:50

talent or potential, it's not because of what

39:52

I can do for you anyway. So you're

39:54

already bringing something to the table. So we

39:56

good. All

39:58

right. Well, listen, Wiz, I appreciate you so much.

40:00

You know, you always, like, no matter where I'm

40:02

working at, you're going to come through. And I'm

40:05

to give you some weed, too. Oh, I didn't

40:07

want to answer that. Yeah, I got you. You

40:09

want some weed, too? The first thing I thought

40:11

when you was on the schedule is, like, I

40:13

hope he brings some weed. Is

40:15

that a shame that people expect that from you? I

40:17

mean, that's part of who he is. Thank you.

40:19

Thank you. So you're to seek to hear the album

40:21

for real now. It's like, oh, man, this is the

40:23

best album I ever heard. Is this your

40:25

paper? Is this your paper? how

40:28

you could look at this and see the quality in

40:30

it. I know. But you

40:32

didn't roll this yourself. Your company did

40:34

this. He had somebody hired for that. I

40:36

personally rolled all of those. You did? No.

40:38

I used the rolling tray at I signed

40:41

it at the bottom. And the rolling tray that

40:43

I use is from you too. That's the

40:45

one that I have at home for the times

40:47

that I do. It's pretty much the only

40:49

one you need. I know that's right. All right,

40:51

see, that's what we're talking about, quality. But

40:53

again, the new album, because it's not a mixtape

40:55

just to be clear, is out on or

40:57

Friday or 418, but you can

40:59

pre -save it now make sure

41:02

you guys pre -save it So it

41:04

just goes straight to your phone

41:06

pre -roll it now pre -roll it.

41:08

Yeah No, I'm gonna use this

41:10

tonight cuz I want to go

41:12

home and I feel my legs

41:14

again Just take two puffs and

41:16

then put it out Oh, I

41:18

think you should do it before

41:20

I think that would be phenomenal

41:26

You want her to be stuck? do want her to be

41:28

stuck. I think that's amazing because you did it to

41:30

me. I had to

41:32

do all these interviews and I was like,

41:34

I don't, but I felt good. Yeah, it felt

41:36

good. Yeah, it felt good. That's all that

41:38

matters. Yeah, gonna have some good sleep probably. Okay,

41:40

perfect. All right. All right. Well, thank you

41:43

again. Always amazing to see you. We appreciate you.

41:45

I appreciate you. Congratulations. Thank you.
