This show is unlike anything else I'm listening to: a strange mix of documentary and small town radio - I was really upset when I realized I was caught up because I really want the next episode!
Great narrative story!
I enjoy the fact that there are multiple narrator stories . It is slow but in a way that keeps me interested. It has taken up a lot of room in my head. The story sneaks up on you and I like the general sense of anxiety it builds. The only drawback for me is the saturation of names. I am constantly trying to figure out if I am supposed to already know a person or if they are new or pertinent to the storyline. I started taking notes. This could possibly just be my issue. Overall very enjoyable.
The small town intrigue keeps me coming back, and I do think it's worth a listen. However I'm personally not a fan of the voice acting, especially in season 2. It feels like the two new actresses are AI or text to speech and that just isnt for me. I think that's my issue - not much voice-acting so much as voice-robotically-reading-a-block-of-text. The whispers episodes dont have this issue and I can still follow the story so I'm still here listening but if top notch full cast voice acting is important to you, I wouldn't prioritise this until you've run out of other stuff to listen to
Emma Barnes in season 3 is weak. She doesn't even try to fight back she's pathetic.
Very slow burn and subtle, leaves you confused and unsettled.
I'm not really into this style, where they pretend to be public radio.
I am not sure how to sum this show up. It is a great listen, and you will question what you are hearing a lot. But it really draws you in and is engaging on so many levels.
A melancholic slow-burn that is beautifully-written and -voiced. Intrigued to see where this gentle unraveling takes us.
Holy moly, the world building in this sucker. Well-written, decent voice acting & sound design, insane amount of detail- possibly to its detriment. It's very much a DIY mystery, there is no hand-holding and very little to connect any story threads within the podcast itself, which is unfortunate since I primarily listen while working or driving and don't want to feel the need for a reference list of important dates and characters. The narrative callbacks & resolution I wanted just weren't there. Didn't work for me, but give it a shot if you like putting the puzzle together yourself.
Listened to the first seven episodes and it didn't hook me. Wasn't getting an overall story, wasn't getting horror. Just lost me.
