This series has become a recent favorite of mine. If you like bits of humor thrown into your horror, this might just be for you. The writing, acting, sound design, and score is solid. Check it out!
Extremely effective horror! Spectacular sound design, with Emily Kellogg and Alex Nursall's stellar performances and writing. Emily plays the transition from Claire to the 'other' really well, and I love the care that Judith has for her, especially in the moments when Claire isn't herself. I can't listen to the show after dark, which should speak great things about the atmospheric writing and design. I'm on episode 6 right now and loving it!One thing that would make this show IMMACULATE would be easily accessible transcripts. That said, I see on the Frequency website that they aren't 'currently' available, which does make it sound like they're on the way!
Does it say comedy? This is not a comedy. I found this on a list of Halloween, scary podcasts. And it held up pretty well! Beginning is a little slow, with some scary bits in the last 2-3 minutes. End picks up. But the scary parts give you a chill!Update after season 2 - not a big fan of this season. Wasn't really scary, and I thought a lot of the things the characters were doing didn't make sense, like simply asking a supernatural force to stop possessing their friend.
Poor writing. Poor acting. Amazingly stupid characters, especially the maing one who is always annoyed, angry, complains and hates everything. Like, take a chill pill or go see your psychotherapist already. Lame jokes which are not even remotely funny at all.
Parkdale Haunt is one of my recent favourites. I've grown to like every character. Mr. Bird is my favourite among the others.
I thought it was great. Can't wait for season 3!
I always have to show up for my fellow Canadian podcasters, and Parkdale Haunt certainly deserves the hometown fans showing up to support the show. Emily Kellogg and Alex Nursall are a fantastic team, and the show delivers on every promise it makes. The sound production, acting, and general sound quality is awesome. The writing is fantastic. These folks love what they do, and I love listening to it.
Absolutely love it. So great. They obviously put a lot of time and effort into the production.Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I burn through podcasts like you wouldn't believe.
I enjoyed the first season which was satisfyingly creepy, the second was a bit repetitive, and the third contains a LOT of torture and gore. Despite that, I continued to listen to see it resolved.
I am a big fan of Judith and Owen. Lots of suspense and horror. The character reactions felt very real. Such spooky audio! Great audio editing.
Really well acted and written. The leads are engaging and sympathetic. I'm only up to episode 3 but there hasn't been any "characters have to act like total idiots to move the plot along" yet, which is shockingly rare in this genre. Can't wait to binge the rest of this.
Amazing 👏 love love how much I want to hit EVIL Claire and hopes she finds her best self !! ❤ I want more !! Please.
Parkdale Haunt is absolutely one of my favorites. The story is very good, but what really sets it apart is the acting. It doesn't feel like you're listening to community theater, it's like being in the room with real people faced with real (and very weird) problems.
Probably one of the most frustrating podcasts I've ever listened to. The plot line is good, the acting is pretty bad, and the story treads water. The main characters act like the have no common sense. It has so much potential but I'm well into season 2 and it's turning into a dud.
I love this podcast. The story, the acting, everything is spot on. I have listened to it more than once and will surely listen to it again.
Totally creepy, pretty funny, all around GREAT podcast!
Parkdale Haunt is well produced, but these characters don't feel like people to me. A lot of the actions in season 2 are odd and don't hold up.
It's hard to do a 'haunted house' story these days and have it be genuinely scary. We've watched the films, we know the beats... except, what if you really were stuck in a haunted house? What if it wasn't a film, and you had no idea how to handle it, or how to get the evil force to go away and stop filling the bath with centipedes? That's the challenge facing our heroes in Parkdale Haunt, which manages to be both very funny and very, very scary. Recommended.
A great addition to the spooky podcast genre. The description gives you a solid look at what's in the tin but the classic tale of 'haunted house possesses girl' gets a modern twist when the big bad spirits have a little new age flare
Scary with the right amount of suspense.... Great audio drama....Great voice acting..
