In our interview with Dom Brightmon, we uncover the team coach, who hosts a podcast in the top 2% of all podcasts. He grew up as someone who listened to others, he heard them and then helped them to reach solutions that worked. Dom came to realize that he wanted to build a life of his choosing, when he was passed over for a promotion at a library he was working for at the time. So, he got into entrepreneurship, wrote a book, and sold 100 copies. He sought to get better, not bitter.
Key Points:
- Create your own piece of immortality. Make things that will last after you're gone, such as a book, website, podcast, or game. That’s what immortality is, leaving behind things that will impact the lives of others, long after you’re gone
- Listen more than you speak, you have 2 ears and one mouth for a reason. Do twice as much listening as you do speaking. If you can listen to others, you’ll be able to help them in a far more impactful way. At the end of the day, if you want to help others, you need to help others to find their own solution. Since your solution won’t be the same solution as someone else comes up with.
- Always be seeking to be better. Don’t just let life happen to you, make your life happen.
- Be discerning with who you bring into your life. Don’t bring in people who won’t elevate you or challenge you, bring in people who will push you to be the best that you can possibly be. A mantra of many of the guests we bring onto our show, choose your group wisely.
- POP, find your pocket of peace and place of productivity. Take some time each day to learn something new and do something relaxing. Maybe it’s going to your coffee shop to do some writing, or reaching out to other businesses to ask a question while on a walk. Take that time for yourself to relax and be productive in a way that you ENJOY!
